Carnism

I was driving up to my parents house when I was enough to heard this dicussion on Midday with Dan Rodricks (I love NPR, it's a fact). Here's the synopsis:

"In the new book Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows, social psychologist Melanie Joy writes about what she calls "carnism," an invisible belief system that underlies our--inconsistent--behavior toward animals."

I found this crazy interesting. I highly encourage everyone to listen, if only to think about why it is we view certain animals as a part of our family but view other animals as part of our dinner.
