Do you see how awesome that picture is? I don't think you do. Really look at it. What is it you ask? It's an entirely vegan brunch. The menu was ALL VEGAN. Let me explain...
The company I work for has a central office in Philadelphia. Every year they hold an "Employee Recognition Dinner." It's a good time - free food, drinks, and a hotel room for crashing afterward. My boyfriend had to work that weekend so I brought my good friend Aubrey. Loads of fun, that girl. However, neither of us have the best sense of direction. So the two of us, driving up to a major metropolitan area, without a GPS, and only directions printed out from google maps. Needless to say we got lost in Philly. It took us an extra hour or so to find our hotel BUT while we were hopelessly looking for the right street signs we saw a big banner in front of a restaurant that said "VEGAN BRUNCH." Hello silver lining!
So Sunday morning, we jumped out of our cozy hotel beds and braved the mean streets of Philly for our brunch. I was really excited. The restaurant was called Mi Lah and it had an asian flare to it. Looking at the menu was a completely new experience. I could eat all of it!! I actually had to make a decision among a dozen or so items!!
Here's what we ordered:
Sweet Potato Fries
Belgian Waffles with Fresh Fruit and Beer Battered Seitan
Pancakes with Blueberry Butter and Bacon
Every brunch order also came with an appetizer of fresh fruit.
I was in heaven. I ate so much!! I wish oh I wish there was a place like this in Baltimore.
Stumbled onto your blog while looking for Baltimore vegans..
ReplyDeleteActually, there IS a place like this in Baltimore. It's called Emily's Cafe and it opened just a couple weeks ago.
Their website is http://www.emilysdesserts.com/emcade.html
Oh and also, if you haven't been to Yabba Pot yet, they're also totally vegan and do brunch as well :)
BTW, you should check out http://www.bmorevegan.com .. we have drinkups every couple of months, last one had over 40 vegans show up!
