Diet

So you'd think being a vegan, I'd be super skinny. Now I am not saying I am fat, but ever since college I have had about ten or fifteen pounds I just can't shake. And I don't think I eat that much, but I'm starting to think I am eating the wrong things.

A couple of friends are in the same college weight boat so we decided to do a fatbet (www.fatbet.net) in order to loose some weight and have fun. When I want to loose a few pounds I usually a calorie counter (www.my-calorie-counter.com). It's an easy and convenient way to see the nutrition facts of what you are eating and how you should cut back. Lately I've been having trouble figuring out what I should cut back. Take yesterday for example:

Breakfast: V8 Vegetable Juice and Apple
Lunch: Kashi Black Bean and Mango Entree
Snack: Kashi Pumpkin Flax Granola Bar
Dinner: Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce
Dessert: Oat and Honey Granola Bar

Which gave me -
74 grams of sugar! (out of 50 grams)
3014 grams of sodium! (out of 2400 grams)

I think that is a pretty freaking normal diet. Granted I probably should have not had that other granola bar for dessert - but still, it's a freaking granola bar for dessert! And eating an apple a day? Totally screwing up my allotted sugar. I used to eat an apple and a banana but that would give me entirely too much sugar. How are people supposed to eat 3-4 fruits when you are only supposed to consume 50 grams of sugar a day? Needless to say I am a little miffed at the progress I am making.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to swap out?
